Best Hair Loss Treatment
Stop balding & Hairloss today

Admitting that I have tried over 30 different hairloss products is a bit embarrassing not mention the outlandish costs involved. My first experience was with a mail order shampoo some years before I started my first natural health website. This product had a flashy add campaign running both on radio and television. On day after hearing it was guaranteed to re-grow hair I just had to have it. It was an expensive product consisting of a couple of shampoos and conditioners that was over $100 per month and was automatically shipped and billed each month. As time went by it became apparent that this miracle cure was not one of the best hairloss products, at least for me. Today after over 29 additional attempts things are looking up and my hairline is much how it was eight years ago.

In determining what are the best hairloss products for you it is important to gain an understanding of the primary cause of balding, eliminate any contributing factors, and be proactive rather than reactive. Let’s take each one of these contributing factors and briefly break them down.

The primary cause of balding is damage to the hair follicles by the androgen hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT). In fact it is estimated that nine out of every ten cases of balding in men and one in four cases of balding in women are attributable to DHT accumulation deep within the hair follicle. This process causes follicles to shrink to a point where new hair growth becomes impossible, leading to an imbalance in the hair replacement cycle, thus causing gradual ongoing hair loss.

Most of us are guilty of contributing to our hair loss. We may not eat right, attempt crash weight loss programs or use inexpensive harsh shampoos that lather up great but actually damage both scalp and hair. We might be under great stress in our daily lives or feel the need to blow dry, curl, color, comb, and manipulate our hair to excess. All of the above factors can contribute to balding and make the job of even the best hairloss products more difficult.

Taking proactive action is perhaps the most important step in both reversing the balding process and maintaining your remaining hair. There is no better example of this than when looking at the research findings for minoxidil (Rogaine). Minoxidil is considered by many to be one of the very best hairloss products. It works by enlarging follicles, prolonging the growth phase, and stimulating resting hairs to grow. It slows the balding process in nine out ten instances but is only able to produce new growth in 3 out of ten instances. And even when successful in producing new growth often times the hair is fuzzy or fine.

What Next? Finding the best hairloss products  is no easy task. Nevertheless, there are currently a handful of hair re-growth products (specially formulated for both men and women) which have been proven effective both in blocking harmful hormones and bringing the all important dead hair follicles back to life. These specially formulated treatments can be used both as a preventative tool, starting before hair loss becomes severe, or after loss of hair has become noticeable. Whatever the level of balding or thinning you are experiencing these products could be just what is needed to overcome this latest life challenge.

If you are women experiencing any degree of balding or thinning reversing female hairloss before it is too late is a serious matter. In many different ways addressing balding or thinning hair in women is many times more complicated than it is in their male counterparts due to the numerous possible culprits. These would include hormones, genetics, birth control pills, autoimmune disorders such as alopecia areata, medications, pregnancy, and thyroid gland disorders. Nevertheless, when addressing the subject of reversing female hairloss we are really talking about how to extend the growth phase of existing hair and encourage dormant hair and damaged hair follicles to participate.

While many of the conditions or causes listed above will reverse themselves over time other will not. The most notable example of this is when hormones and genetics are bundled into a condition known as female pattern baldness. Female pattern baldness affects one out of every four women and is a generally a slow arduous process that produces ongoing thinning rather than complete and total balding. It is important to point out that in women a receding hairline is rarely seen.

The bad news here is that by the time you recognize the condition somewhere between 10 and 20 thousand hair follicles may have already been damaged or rendered incapable of producing new hair growth, making our goal to reverse female hairloss a real challenge. This damage may have spanned over a 4 to 8 year period of time.

As just mentioned to reverse female hairloss caused by female pattern baldness is no easy task, and in some cases may not be possible due to the extent of damage already done. On the other hand if you take action when the first signs of thinning or balding are noticed your chances will be very good to slow its progression and moderately good for reversing the damage.

The primary hormone responsible for causing ongoing balding in women is dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which is converted from testosterone in the hair cell and accumulates over time in the hair follicle. As the accumulation continues, follicles shrink to a point where the existing hair falls out and new growth is no longer possible. To reverse female hairloss of this type you will need to reopen at least some of those closed follicles.

Most experts believe that the twice a day topical formula minoxidil is the most effective treatment for this monumental task. With minoxidil there is some good news and some bad news as well. The good news is that minoxidil is 90 percent effective at protecting existing hair, the bad news is that it will only reopen those dead or severely damaged follicles about 30 percent of the time. Of that 30 percent at least half of the time the new growth is very thin or fuzzy. Minoxidil is considered safe and currently has no side effects.

Additionally, there are a number of natural oils such as almond, pumpkin, lavender, jojoba, and bhringaraj that are recommended by naturopaths to rejuvenate the scalp and stimulate new growth.

What Next? There are currently a handful of hair re-growth products  (specially formulated for women) which have been proven effective both in blocking harmful hormones and bringing the all important dead hair follicles back to life. These specially formulated treatments can be used both as a preventative tool, starting before hair loss becomes severe, or after loss of hair has become noticeable. Whatever the level of balding or thinning you are experiencing these products could be just what is needed to overcome this latest life challenge.

Your hair (and receding hairline) is going to tell an awful lot about you, including whether or not your body is in balance. Balance includes having a good physical and mental health, as well as having fully functioning organs and glands that are producing the correct hormones for your body. This is one of the things considered when looking for the cause of male pattern baldness.

If a person is healthy, emotionally and physically healthy, their hair is going to be much more radiant and shining, and their scalp is going to be healthy and moist. Their hair is going to be able to tell you a lot about what their health state is, both with physical health and with mental health and relates to looking for a cure for baldness.

If a person is not well, either not physically well, or not mentally well, their hair is going to be rather dull and they are going to have a hard time focusing on what their hair should be like – this could be the cause for and/or contribute to male pattern baldness. In an unhealthy person, you are even going to see periods of time in which their hair falls out and the receding hairline gets more prominent. It might become waxy, due to the overproduction of the glands that are providing your hair with nutrients.

It is also a true fact that any changes we might be going through in our lives can contribute to male pattern baldness and can be displayed for all to see on our heads and in our receding hairline. If we are well and healthy and happy, our heads will reflect this. If not, our hair might begin to fall out, and sometimes a slump in physical or mental state can be easily reflected in our hair. All these factors are taken into account when looking for a cure for baldness.

Even though challenge and excitement is something that we need to be attractive and active people, too much stress can actually cause our hair to fall out of our heads and be a factor in male pattern baldness. When this happens, it will usually regrow itself if we can get our bodies regulated and get thought the periods of stress without falling back into them again.

Remember that if you are losing hair because of stress, male pattern baldness or if you are losing hair because of a slump you are in your life, you are actually in a good place to be, when it comes to your hair loss, because most of the time, once you fix what is going wrong in your life, your hair will re grow itself and your hair loss will actually be reversed (yes, even your receding hairline) . So, if you have lost hair due to stress or to being physically or mentally ill, the good thing is that once you get yourself healthy and back on track, you aren’t going to have to worry about your hair, it will come back on its own.

Male pattern baldness and one’s receding hairline is a constant subject of research and attention. One’s lifestyle, eating habits, exercise levels and and general level of health all can contribute to the effects of male pattern baldness. While noone has a magic pill that one can take to reverse balding, we all are glad to receive whatever information we can to reverse this condition which noone really wants. There are many products on the market including creams, sprays, lotions, tablets and various potions. While no one thing can give an overall cure it makes sense to look at things holistically as well looking at the more conventional means.

Today almost everybody complains from hair loss. Maybe so do you. But does everyone know all the reasons of women hair loss? In order to be sure and to stop hair loss you should read all the list of main reasons:

1. You don’t wash your hair as soon as it becomes muddy.

The muddy hair cannot breathe. Therefore sometimes hair loss begins.

2. You comb you hair while it’s wet yet.

If you noticed wet hair is hardly combed. And as a result of it its structure is damaged. You should comb your hair only when it’s quite damp.

3. You wash your hair too often, even when it’s not necessary.

As a result of washing too often, hair becomes dull and faded. Because it loses most of its nutrients while washing process. And it causes hair thinning and then hair loss.

4. You often use a drier.

Hair begins shedding, but also loses its health and natural shine. Finally, this case prevents hair growth and sometimes you cannot even stop hair loss.

5. You do not use the suitable shampoo or other hair care and hair loss treatment remedies for your hair.

Today it’s very difficult to choose the right shampoo among numerous popular brands of hair remedies. But the famous and expensive don’t always mean the best. Before buying any hair remedies I recommend you to visit http://hairbeautysecrets.blogspot.com/ for hair loss treatment. I hope you’ll find there how to stop hair loss if you look for natural hair loss treatment remedies.

6. You have been just operated or taken a lot of chemicals.

After both of these events it’s often impossible to stop hair loss as a result of chemical poisoning of the organism. In this period your ration must be very rich in vitamins (especially A, B, C, D, E), minerals, microelements. You’d better drink fresh-squeezed fruit and vegetable juices (especially apple, carrot, cucumber etc.) in order not only to prevent hair loss, baldness, but also to provide hair growth. You can drink them together in equal proportion. And of course, the second thing you should do is external nutrition of hair: natural hair loss treatment and using herbal remedies for balding prevention. It’s recommended to wash hair with natural homemade hair remedies for a while (you can find the receipt in http://hairbeautysecrets.blogspot.com/).

7. You have anemia.

The lack of iron and vitamins also causes hair loss. In this case besides treatment with hair loss treatment remedies, you need also eat food rich in iron. I especially recommend you to drink fresh-squeezed apple juice and eat various salads, nuts, more fish, etc. Fish is very rich in vitamins A, E. Or you can consult with your doctor and take some multivitamin tablets. But I recommend you to choose the natural way. In this way you’ll be able not only to stop hair loss, but also strengthen hair.

8. You often dye or perm your hair.

Regular coloring or perm damage hair and it begins to fade, becomes thinner and dull. Therefore such hair usually doesn’t seem healthy. Such damaged hair needs special care most of all. You should make natural hair masks to nourish your hair. I recommend you to use natural homemade shampoo.

9. You “trick” your hair only with remedies you buy from stores. To those who apply to me for advice how to stop hair loss, I tell not to forget that the best shampoos, masks and conditioners that you buy from shops are not enough to make hair healthier, especially if they have damaged hair or hair thinning problem. Because almost all these hair remedies contain chemicals thanks to which we could keep them for a long time. But true natural hair remedies can be usually kept for a week maximum. You’d better use homemade shampoos and conditioners minimum 3-4 months a year if you want to prevent baldness, stop hair loss and thicken hair. You can also find such chemical free homemade shampoos at the natural shampoo section of natures brands store.

10. You eat much salt or sugar.

Everything is useful in necessary dose. Consuming much salt and sugar also causes hair loss. You should reduce them in your ration; especially restrict pickles, cakes and sweets to prevent hair loss in advance.

Homemade masks for hair loss

Mix coconut oil + mustard oil + castor oil in equal quantities. Apply on the scalp and massage gently. Leave overnight. Shampoo in the morning. It’s a good natural treatment for hair loss (at least once a week). It can be also a useful remedy for baldness.

Home remedy for deep conditioning damaged hair (from perms, coloring or using a drier)

1 cup real mayonnaise (room temperature) + ½ cup olive oil + 3 egg yolks. Mix all in a bowl. Apply thoroughly on your scalp and hair. Cover with plastic cap, then with a hot towel. Keep at least 30 min and then rinse out. Do not shampoo afterwards, just rinse well. Do it when you are not going to go out.

Many scalp conditions such as irritated or itchy scalp infections and hair loss can stem from causes which are related. There are quite a few different factors that can cause scalp and hair problems that may seem to elude our understanding, but there are also some very common factors that most of us don’t realise we can take control of.

Understanding how natural scalp remedies &/or scalpmed treatments can help to soothe our scalps, and more importantly understand the causes so we can eliminate or at least reduce them. It can be a lot simpler than you might think.

For example learning about how our follicles respond to different shampoo ingredients or hormones like DHT from testosterone.

Conditions like sore scalp and hair loss can be attributed to conditions such as a reaction to certain common shampoo ingredients that a surprising number of people have averse reactions to….some of these can cause flaking, dandruff or itchy scalp and corrode hair follicles resulting in hair loss.

Hair loss is a problem that affects many people particularly males but also an increasing number of females. For some people it can be devastating to their self esteem.

Prescription drugs as scalpmeds are a very common choices for dealing with scalp and hair loss issues. The two most popular and only FDA approved drugs that deal with hair loss are Rogaine and Propecia. Rogaine is a topical treatment that you apply to the scalp, aiding hair growth and inhibiting hair loss. Propecia is an oral pill that is designed to help maintain hair count. These are usually prescribed together as a solution by doctors.

Hair restoration surgery is another option where surgery is undertaken to take hair from other areas of the head and place it in areas where hair loss has occurred. This is a natural looking solution, fast and long term. The downside is that not everyone can afford surgery and it’s also a big deal to some people having any kind of surgery.

Luckily there are natural ways to deal with the causes of hair loss by using beneficial hair products and shampoos. There are also natural oils that are rumoured to (and shown in studies) to help with encouraging hair growth such as lavender oil.

Let’s have a look at the different types or categories of hair loss, and then look at some of the scalp med options available to you.

Mens Hair Loss

Symptoms include:

1. Receding hairline

2. Moderate to extensive hair loss, especially on the crown of the head.

About ninety-five percent of hair loss in men can be attributed to Androgenic Alopecia (male pattern baldness).

For some men hair loss can start from as early as age 20 but for most male’s hair loss is only noticeable from the age of about 35 onwards.

Factors affecting baldness are suggested to included age, heredity and the male hormone testosterone.

The main culprit is DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) which is a combination of testosterone and androgen receptors mixed with sebum and dirt particles. The hair follicles are particularly sensitive to DHT may shrink when exposed to it and eventually the hair thins than falls out.

Other causes of hair loss can include scalp inflammations, infections, and nutritional deficiency in your diet, illness, and severe stress

DHT & Androgens: DHT is a naturally occurring human hormone, related to production of testosterone. DHT is present form birth but can increase from the onset of puberty. DHT causes changes in men’s biology affecting their hair follicles.

In follicles, are DHT and structures called “Androgen Receptors”. These regulate normal hair growth.

DHT and Androgen Receptors combine to carry out the creation of normal proteins in follicles, which regulate the health, growth, and resting cycles of a follicle.

As men age, these two processes change and too much DHT can be produced thus manifesting as an overabundance of this activity which effects the normal growth regulating process that goes on in the follicle. In the normal hair cycle it grows, rests, and re-grows again. When DHT and the Androgen receptors are in too much supply this can extend the resting time of the cycle and weaken hair follicles.

Inflammation:The process described above initiates what is called an autoimmune response. To put it in layman’s terms, follicles experiencing the above process are being treated as a foreign body and are rejected. This really sums up what male pattern baldness is.

Telltale signs and symptoms of the autoimmune response can include tingling, itching, burning or redness, and inflammation of the scalp. This isn’t always the case but is very common. Inflammation is considered one of the other major factors which exacerbate the hair loss process. It’s vital to ensure you are using a good shampoo that does not further irritate the scalp with ingredients such as Sulphates known to irritate skin and eye membranes.

Ladies Hair Loss:

Scalp Inflammations: Our skin and scalp is the largest organ of the body. This isn’t really something most of us think about, but this is the organ that is most exposed to the environment. Like the rest of our body, it’s important that our skin maintains a balance that enables it to regenerate itself. This can be easier said than done – especially when we bombard it with all manner of substances and the elements. Our skin and scalps produce sebum for protection and balance. However, we use products to clean them without questioning how they affect the delicate balance of body etc.

One other side effect of some products’ ingredients is that they can corrode hair follicles and disturb hormones – which control the natural resting and growth cycles of hair. Yes hair has cycles of growth and resting. This is why pregnancy and hormonal changes throughout and later in life can influence our hair thickness and health.

Post Pregnancy Hair Loss: It’s quite common for women to lose an increased amount of hair during pregnancy or shortly after giving birth. Some say this is the result of hormonal changes. It is considered to be normal temporary cycle and hair can be expected to regrow in time.

Female Telogen Effluvium: Telogen Effluvium is a condition where a larger number of follicles than usual enter the resting phase that hair follicles go through. Symptoms are a diffuse thinning of hair over the scalp, resulting in reduced overall hair density. It is caused by hormonal imbalances, and vitamin deficiencies.

The good news is that the vast majority of people with TE can see a full recovery of hair fullness. To treat TE, it’s important to repair the imbalance detected in blood tests and/or stimulate hair growth until the condition causing the TE ceases. You can use natural oils such as Lavender and Rosemary to help stimulate hair re growth as well as by taking care to avoid certain chemicals which can corrode hair follicles such as Sulphates.

Alopecia Areata

this is a common condition which effects as many as 1 in 1,000 people at any time. It is much less common than Androgenic Alopecia due to DHT. Alopecia Areata. Sometimes bodily imbalances can cause this and can be helped or cured by correcting several factors which can be detected with blood tests which can reveal the most common causes such as medications, pregnancy, birth control pills, thyroid malfunctions, anemia, syphilis, and arthritis.

It’s also quite often caused by a response of the immune system where the body has mistaken the hair follicles as a foreign body and rejects them.

The good news is that if an imbalance in a person’s system, which if rectified, can result in complete regrowth of hair.

Non Surgical Options: Scalpmed Treatments Available:

Growth Stimulants

Minoxidil 2% or 5% (growth stimulant)

Crinagen (contains growth stimulant properties)

Revivogen (contains growth stimulant properties)

Nizoral 1% Shampoo (growth stimulant)

Proxiphen (contains growth stimulant properties)

Copper peptide treatments: are treatments that specialize in shortening the resting phase of the follicle. Some are listed below:

Tricomin Therapy Spray (copper peptide treatment)

Folligen (copper peptide treatment from the makers of Tricomin)

DHT Inhibitors – Work to inhibit the binding of Testosterone and 5-Alpha Reductase, which in turn keeps DHT levels as close to normal as possible, which in turn helps keep hair growth and loss regulation at its normal healthy state. These treatments really deal with the cause of hair loss.

Growth Stimulating Remedies Or Drugs– These can artificially stimulate growth, without actually dealing with hair loss at the cause of the problem. While this may sound like an ineffective method, growth stimulators are actually a very successful way to reverse the balding process – or help to restore hair follicle health after you have removed the cause.

Super Oxide Dismutase – Or SOD’s: these hair loss treatments work by handling the immune response which occurs as a result of excessive DHT in the follicle. Your immune system protects itself against invading viruses, cells, and foreign tissues by releasing Super Oxide, which helps to defend the body, but also makes the body reject hair follicles. What SOD’s do is to reduce Super Oxide, lessening the body’s desire to reject the follicle. SOD’s have growth stimulation properties, as well as anti-inflammatory properties. There are natural sources of SOD including supplements including melon-derived SOD oral supplements.

Antiandrogens: – These scalpmed treatments work by inhibiting DHT from binding to the Androgen receptor. As we know, this is one of the steps in the chain of chemical reactions which ultimately leads to hair loss. DHT Inhibitors eliminate the first chemical interaction and stop it from occurring early on, whereas Antiandrogens work on inhibiting one of the last interactions before follicle damage happens. These treatments work as inhibitors but at different times during the process.

Products such as Revivogen are known to be vey effective in treating DHT related hair loss.

Anti-Inflammatory’s: Either medical formulations or natural anti-inflammatories such as essential oils can be effective by reducing inflammation, itching, redness, and flaking. A surprising number of itchy burning scalp irritations can also be caused as a result of an allergic reaction to shampoo ingredients stimulating an immune response, which can make hair loss even worse if not controlled. One culprit is SLS (Sodium Laureth or Lauryl Sulphate). Sodium lauryl sulfate dissolves the oils on your skin, which causes a drying effect. It is also well documented that it denatures skin proteins, which causes not only irritation, but also allows environmental contaminants easier access to the lower, sensitive layers of the skin. It also corrodes the hair follicle and impedes hair growth. It has been blamed for many cases of premature hair loss and it takes hair longer to grow when it has been affected by SLS.

Natural Remedies: There are many natural remedies you can use to soothe & alleviate the symptoms and help the healing process. Oils Known to Stimulate Hair Growth Are: Rosemary, Hissop, Neroli, Lavender (lavender has been shown in studies to increase hair growth in some test subjects by 30%), it’s also very calming & effective in relieving sore inflamed scalp.

There are other remedies for soothing and healing scalp conditions that have long been treated with scalp meds like Rogaine or Nizoral. It’s good to know there are ways to help your scalp get back to balance and thus creating an environment for healthy hair.

Before a treatment of male pattern baldness should even make your list of considerations, you need to know if your condition is treatable to begin with. In other words, how much hair have you lost? The answer to this question greatly determines the extent to which you will respond to treatment.

For example, if you have gone totally bald on any or all parts of your scalp, chances are good that your hair follicles have died completely. While a surgical option like plugs or transplants may still be a viable option for you, less invasive measures will most likely have no effect.

If you fall into the majority, however, and you still have living hair follicles, weak and thin as they may be, there is still hope for you to respond favorably to a non-surgical treatment of male pattern baldness. The three steps I’m about to outline for you directly treat what I believe the real root cause of male pattern baldness… follicle starvation.
Treatment of Male Pattern Baldness – 3 Steps to a New Head of Hair:

Provide Your Blood With “Hair Nourishment” – Vitamin and mineral deficiency may or may not be playing a role in your particular hair loss, but by no means does it hurt to make sure you’re giving your hair what it needs. Magnesium, iron, copper, zinc, biotin, and vitamin b6 are among the most essential nutrients your follicles are being starved of. Eat lots of fresh, raw fruits and veggies, especially avocados. And for the sake of efficiency and thoroughness, take a good, all natural multivitamin to give your hair the best possible chance of regrowth.
Free Your Blood From “Follicle Attackers” – Your hair’s mortal enemy is a male sex hormone known as dihydrotestosterone, or DHT. Those of us with male pattern baldness are genetically predisposed to produce an excessive amount of this wicked hormone, which invades our hair follicles and chokes them off from our scalp’s blood supply. Obviously, this causes inadequate nutrition, which leads to our hair thinning and eventually falling out. To combat DHT, use either the drug finasteride or its natural alternative, saw palmetto. Many men choose the saw palmetto option to avoid any of the potential sexual side effects associated with finasteride.
Restore Proper Blood Flow To Your Hair Follicles – Now that you’ve nourished your blood and have set it free from DHT’s evil grasp, you need to make sure that it hasn’t been in vain. If your blood can’t get to your hair follicles, it doesn’t matter how optimized and “chock full of goodies” it is. The best way to restore sufficient circulation throughout the scalp is to use what has long been considered the most effective treatment of male pattern baldness to ever hit the market… minoxidil (Rogaine). A 5% topical solution applied to the affected area(s) of the scalp every morning is ideal for men.

Following this 3-step treatment of male pattern baldness will give you the very best chances of successful hair restoration.
One product that provides all three of these is Provillus. Many men have had great success with this product.

Lee Murray is a nutritionist and hair restoration expert from Spokane, Washington.

If your condition is treatable and you would like to take a closer look at Provillus, you are invited to do so at this time.

Going bald is a fact of life for millions of men around the world. Adults lose about 10,000 scalp hairs each day. A single strand of hair normally lives for around five years after which it automatically falls out so that a new hair can grow in its place. However with male pattern baldness these lost hairs are not always replaced and very gradually yet steadily it results in baldness. The time period for this process to occur differs in each individual. No one can predict how long it will be before you define yourself as bald.

Hair loss that brings about thinning of the hair mass is known as alopecia. However, when the same hair loss is related to hormonal (androgens) and genetic factors, it is known as androgenetic alopecia. The predominant characteristics of male pattern alopecia are:

A receding hairline Hair loss on the top of the head

Men start to go bald because of a number of factors. But for men between the ages of 20-45 who start to lose scalp hair, there are 95% chances that he is experiencing male pattern baldness. As suggested by the term, it follows a typical pattern of hair loss – usually starting at the temples or on the crown of the head. Progressive thinning over a number of years either leads to total baldness or typical hair loss hair over the top surface of the head.

Baldness Causes

Since most men are genetically predisposed to male pattern baldness, it is the result of the effect of the hormones on the hair follicles. Testosterone, primarily called a male hormone, is present in high levels in males after puberty. It is primarily this testosterone that is converted to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) by an enzyme called 5-alpha reductase. DHT affects the hair follicles adversely; it acts on a hormone receptor on the hair follicle to slow down hair production and produce weak, short hair. Sometimes the DHT levels may be so high that it completely stops hair growth from the follicles.

Aging is another factor that is responsible for hair loss and most men adjust to this loss automatically. Illness or disease may also result in unnatural hair loss. You must go to the doctor if:

You lose hair suddenly Your hair loss is in clumps or significant amounts on your pillow, back of your clothes or after a head bath

This sudden hair loss does not represent typical male pattern baldness and does require a diagnosis by a medical professional. Numerous reasons may result in hair loss but often it can be treated successfully. These reasons could be:

High temperature associated with infections or flu Thyroid and pituitary problems Some medical treatments like radiotherapy As a side effect of medications such as interferon, chemotherapy and steroids Stress Psychological problems such as trichotillomania (where some people pull out their hair) Exposure to dangerous chemicals such as thallium acetate Fungal infections of the scalp Ringworm Burns Alpaca Areata Universalis (where the whole body is affected) Alopecia Totalis (where the whole of the scalp becomes bald)

If disease is the cause for hair loss, it will normally be accompanied by other symptoms. But a doctor can easily check this out for you.

Baldness Treatments

Treatment for baldness is not really necessary if you are comfortable with your appearance. However, some people may decide to go in for hair weaving, hairpieces, or change of hairstyle to disguise their hair loss. This is generally considered to be the least expensive and also the safest approach to male pattern baldness.

But if you are looking for something more permanent, you could use prescription drugs that have the potential to treat male pattern baldness. These include:

Minoxidil (Rogaine) is a solution that is applied directly to the scalp. This stimulates the hair follicles, reduces hair loss and also works in the area of new hair growth. However, this is not a magic potion and discontinuing the application of this solution will bring back the previous degree of hair loss.

Finasteride (Propecia, Proscar) is a prescription-only medicine that works by inhibiting the production of the male hormone dihydrotestosterone. This drug is more likely to lessen the pace of hair loss as well as result in new hair growth. However, like Minoxidil, Finasteride also returns the previous degree of hair loss once the drug is stopped.

Hair transplants are another permanent option for hair re-growth. Since it is also very expensive, it is not a very viable option in terms of cost. The procedure, nevertheless, involves removing tiny plugs of hair from areas of hair growth and placing them in the balding areas. This may though cause minor scarring in the donor areas. In addition, it carries a modest risk for skin infection, requires multiple sittings and is highly expensive. But results are generally excellent and permanent.

Suturing hair pieces to the scalp is not advisable as it may result in scars, infections, and abscess of the scalp. Additionally, use of hair implants, made of artificial fibers, is also not recommended as they have a high rate of infection.

Male pattern baldness is a permanent, non-medical disorder. But all the same it can adversely affect self-esteem and be a major cause for anxiety. Propecia can help you get over this successfully.

Hair disorders is any condition which affect the hair shaft and the hair folicle. Hair disorders occurs in both sexes and at all ages. Hair dissorder can affect individual expression may affect self-esteem, social functioning, and quality of life.

The category of hair disorders include:
1. Excessive Hair (Hirsutism)
Hirsutism may be defined as excess hair on a woman in the places only adult men “should” grow hair. A person’s age, sex, racial and ethnic origin, and hereditary factors determine the amount of body hair.

Hirsutism is usually caused by an increased sensitivity of the skin to a group of hormones called androgens (testosterone and androstenedione) or increased production of these hormones. Androgen disorders (hyperandrogenism) affects between 5% to 10% of all women.

2. Hair Loss
Hair loss may develop gradually or suddenly. It results from hereditary factors, aging, local skin conditions, and diseases that affect the body generally (systemic diseases). Many different drugs can also cause hair loss. When it occurs on the head, hair loss is generally referred to as baldness.

- Androgenetic alopecia is the most common type of hair loss, eventually affecting about half of all men (male-pattern baldness) and 10 to 20% of women (female-pattern baldness). The pattern of hair loss in women differs from male-pattern baldness.  The hair loss can begin at any age, even during the teenage years. Androgenetic alopecia caused a variety of genetic, hormones and environmental factors, Which related with hormones called androgens, particularly an androgen called dihydrotestosterone. A slightly elevated level of hormone dihydrotestosterone probably plays a major role, along with genetic factor. Androgens are important for normal male sexual development before birth and during puberty. Androgens also have other important functions in both males and females, such as regulating hair growth and sex drive.

Androgenetic alopecia in women rarely leads to total baldness. Female scalp hair loss may commonly begin at any age through 50 or later, may not have any obvious hereditary association, and may not occur in a recognizable “female-pattern alopecia” of diffuse thinning over the top of the scalp.  In women, the hair becomes thinner all over the head, and the hairline does not recede.

Androgenetic alopecia in men may begin any time after puberty when blood levels of androgens rise. Male pattern baldness is more permanent. It occurs in a characteristic pattern on the scalp: hair loss usually begins at the temples and at the top of the head toward the back, causing a receding hairline and a bald spot. Hair loss may continue until the two sections become joined, leaving a horseshoe-shaped area of hair on the sides and back of the head.

- Alopecia areata is a common skin disorder in which round, irregular patches of hair are suddenly lost. The cause is believed to be an autoimmune reaction, in which the body’s immune defenses mistakenly attack the hair follicles. The site of hair loss is usually the scalp or beard. Alopecia areata occurs in both sexes and at all ages but is most common in children and young adults. The hair usually grows back in several months. However, there may be some hereditary factors. People with alopecia areata have a family member who is also affected. People with Alopecia areata may have a higher risk of atopic eczema, asthma, and nasal allergies, as well as other autoimmune diseases such as thyroid disease (Hashimoto’s thyroiditis), and vitiligo. In people with widespread hair loss, regrowth is unlikely.

- Telogen effluvium Is a condition in which excessive shedding of normal club hairs. Telogen effluvium caused by endocrine disorders, stressors, mand medication. These factors may cause termination of the growing phase (anagen) of the hair follicles and transformation into the resting phase (telogen), causing telogen fallout two to four months later. The normal average scalp has 100,000 hairs. Approximately 90% are in anagen, 10% in telogen. Normal average daily hair fallout is 100 hairs. With telogen effluvium, the anagen/telogen ratio may be shifted to 70% anagen, 30% telogen, with average daily shedding of 300 hairs.

3. Hair shaft disorders
Hair shaft disorders is a condition in which the hair shaft is dry, brittle, and coarse.  overprocessed hair (coloring, permanent waves, excessive heating) or certain diseases. The most common cause of hair shaft abnormality or hair fragility is trichorrhexis nodosa, with node-like swellings through which the shaft readily fractures. This usually appears as a result of trauma.

Hair care is an generally term for parts of hygiene and cosmetology involving the hair on the human head. Hair care will differ by according to one’s hair type and according to various processes that can be applied to the hair. All hair is not the same; indeed, of hair is just a manifestation of human diversity.

In this article, ‘Hair care’ is taken to mean special care of hair on the human head, but mention should be made of process and services which impact hair on other parts of the body. This includes mens and womens facial, pubic, and to other body hair, which may be dyed, trimmed, shaved, plucked, or otherwise removed with treatments such as the waxing, sugaring, and threading. These services are offered basically in salons, barber shops, and day spas, and products are available to commercially for home use Laser hair removal and electrolysis are also available, though these are just provided (in the US) by licensed professionals in medical offices or specialty spas.

Hair cleaning and conditioning

[edit] Biological processes and hygiene

Care of the hair and care of the scalp skin may to appear separate, but are actually intertwined because hair grows from beneath the skin. The living parts of the hair (hair follicle, hair root, root sheath, and sebaceous gland) are beneath the skin, while the actual hair shaft which then emerges (the cuticle which covers the cortex and medulla) has no living processes. o or changes made to the visible hair shaft cannot be strictly repaired by a biological process, though much can be done to manage hair and ensure that the cuticle remains here intact. (For more information on the biological processes involved in the hair production, see Hair.)

The sebaceous glands in human skin produce the sebum, which is in fact composed over all of fatty acids. Sebum acts to protect the hair and skin, and can inhibit the growth of the microorganisms on the skin. Sebum contributes to the skins slightly acidic natural pH somewhere in between 5 and 6.8 on the pH spectrum. This oily substance actually gives hair moisture and shine as it travels naturally down the hair shaft, and serves then as a protective substance preventing the hair from drying out or absorbing excessive amounts of external substances. Sebum is also being distributed down the hair shaft mechanically by brushing and combing. When sebum is basically present in excess, the roots of the hair can appear oily, greasy, normally darker than normal, and the hair may stick together.

[edit] Hair cleaning

To combat this appearance of dirty hair, and to remove the actual dirt and other contaminants and external substances like those sweat, the hair may be washed. Often hair is washed as part of a shower or bathing with a specialized soap that called shampoo. Those with damaged or curly hair, or sensitive scalps, may get benefit from cleansing with a light conditioner, instead. However, this requires that only water-soluble products this are applied to the hair and scalp.

To help lift any scaly skin, detritis, and sebum, mainly for those who suffer from scalp skin ailments, very gently scratching the surface of the skin with just a small fine toothed comb may help to loosen and to lift grime and dead skin cells before a hair wash, helping to have a much cleaner scalp skin after a hair wash.
Microfiber towels that help to absorb the water from hair faster than conventional towels are then available on the market. These are mostly helpful for those with very thick hair that may otherwise take a while to dry, specially if air drying.

Washing hair with shampoo and conditioner should be used moderately. Washing with the shampoo and conditioner more than 3 times a week may dry hair, making it “frizzy

The Role of Genetics in Hair Loss

Our genes are responsible for determining our eye color, skin type and yes, our predisposition to hair loss. However, the gene responsible for hair loss has “variable expression”. This means that even if the gene was passed to you by your parents, you may not experience premature hair thinning and loss. A number of factors work together to either contribute to the problem, or to prevent it from worsening.

These factors include your diet, the level of stress in your everyday life and your lifestyle including habits such as smoking cigarettes and exercise. However, the most influential factor is a chemical called DHT. Dihydrotesterone is a by-product of testosterone, which is why men are more often affected with hair loss than women.

Men who are predisposed to early hair loss by their genetics will find the problem compounded if they are also sensitive to DHT. The chemical causes the hair follicles to shrink, effectively choking off the hair shaft and causing it to thin and eventually disappear. The hair follicles on the top and sides of the scalp are most likely to be affected by this type of baldness.

Solutions and Treatment

While it is not possible to “fix” or change the gene responsible for hair loss, it is possible to treat the problem and prevent it from worsening. There are several medications available to help combat the symptoms and prevent hair loss.

Rogaine is a medication applied to the scalp twice a day. The active ingredient is a medication called Minoxidil. It works by stimulating hair growth and is effective in 50-55% of the people who use it. Rogaine is available over the counter.

Propecia, or finasteride, is a prescription drug that lowers the body’s levels of DHT. This prevents the shrinkage of the hair follicles that causes hair to thin and eventually stop growing.

Some men opt for surgery to treat their thinning hairline. Specialists can remove the part of the scalp affected by hair loss and pull the areas thick with hair over to cover the bald spots. If that seems too drastic for some, hair plugs are also an option. Learn more about baldness solutions and treatments.

Alternative Causes for Hair Loss

Some men, though not genetically predisposed to hair loss, still find themselves with thinning hair or a receding hairline. These people may not respond to drugs such as Rogaine or Propecia because of the cause of the problem. Telogen effluvium and Anagen effluvium are two conditions that refer to a problem with different growth stages of the hair. These conditions most often affect people who have undergone surgery, had treatments for cancer, or have low levels of iron. Alopecia areata is a condition for which the cause is unknown, but it has been linked to high levels of stress. Read more about hair loss causes.
