If you are women experiencing any degree of balding or thinning reversing female hairloss before it is too late is a serious matter. In many different ways addressing balding or thinning hair in women is many times more complicated than it is in their male counterparts due to the numerous possible culprits. These would include hormones, genetics, birth control pills, autoimmune disorders such as alopecia areata, medications, pregnancy, and thyroid gland disorders. Nevertheless, when addressing the subject of reversing female hairloss we are really talking about how to extend the growth phase of existing hair and encourage dormant hair and damaged hair follicles to participate.
While many of the conditions or causes listed above will reverse themselves over time other will not. The most notable example of this is when hormones and genetics are bundled into a condition known as female pattern baldness. Female pattern baldness affects one out of every four women and is a generally a slow arduous process that produces ongoing thinning rather than complete and total balding. It is important to point out that in women a receding hairline is rarely seen.
The bad news here is that by the time you recognize the condition somewhere between 10 and 20 thousand hair follicles may have already been damaged or rendered incapable of producing new hair growth, making our goal to reverse female hairloss a real challenge. This damage may have spanned over a 4 to 8 year period of time.
As just mentioned to reverse female hairloss caused by female pattern baldness is no easy task, and in some cases may not be possible due to the extent of damage already done. On the other hand if you take action when the first signs of thinning or balding are noticed your chances will be very good to slow its progression and moderately good for reversing the damage.
The primary hormone responsible for causing ongoing balding in women is dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which is converted from testosterone in the hair cell and accumulates over time in the hair follicle. As the accumulation continues, follicles shrink to a point where the existing hair falls out and new growth is no longer possible. To reverse female hairloss of this type you will need to reopen at least some of those closed follicles.
Most experts believe that the twice a day topical formula minoxidil is the most effective treatment for this monumental task. With minoxidil there is some good news and some bad news as well. The good news is that minoxidil is 90 percent effective at protecting existing hair, the bad news is that it will only reopen those dead or severely damaged follicles about 30 percent of the time. Of that 30 percent at least half of the time the new growth is very thin or fuzzy. Minoxidil is considered safe and currently has no side effects.
Additionally, there are a number of natural oils such as almond, pumpkin, lavender, jojoba, and bhringaraj that are recommended by naturopaths to rejuvenate the scalp and stimulate new growth.
What Next? There are currently a handful of (specially formulated for women) which have been proven effective both in blocking harmful hormones and bringing the all important dead hair follicles back to life. These specially formulated treatments can be used both as a preventative tool, starting before hair loss becomes severe, or after loss of hair has become noticeable. Whatever the level of balding or thinning you are experiencing these products could be just what is needed to overcome this latest life challenge.

About Propecia
Propecia (generic name: Finasteride) is an FDA approved pill for treatment of male pattern baldness in men. Manufactured by pharmaceutical company Merck and Co. Propecia (finasteride) has been in use since 1997 and is currently one of the most prescribed pills for treating male pattern baldness. Propecia has been clinically proven as a medicine that helps increase hair growth and prevent further hair loss in men suffering from male pattern baldness.
What is male pattern baldness?
Male pattern baldness or androgenetic alopecia is one the most common cause of hair loss in men. In this condition, hair is lost in a well-defined pattern beginning above both temples. Hair also thins at the crown of the head. often progresses to partial or complete baldness in men.
Male pattern baldness is caused by the effect of the male sex hormone called testosterone. By an action of enzyme called 5-alpha reductase, testosterone is converted to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). When the level of the DHT goes above a certain level it acts on the hormone receptor on the hair follicle and produces weak, shorter hair. It also slows down hair production gradually depleting your stock of hair.
How Propecia (finasteride) works?
Finasteride – the active compound in belongs to a group of medicine called 5 alpha reductase inhibitors. Propecia works by blocking the enzyme, Type II 5 alpha-reductase and thereby inhibit the production of DHT. The DHT is the chief cause of male pattern baldness as it can shrink the hair follicle until it no longer produces visible hair. Regular use of Propecia keeps the production of DHT in check and therefore helps in stopping further hair loss and also assists in new hair growth.
How do I use Propecia?
Propecia (finasteride) pill is to be taken orally once a day, with or without food. The standard prescribed dosage of Propecia for male pattern baldness is 1mg tablet once a day. Ideally the dose should be taken regularly and at the same time everyday.
It takes about three months before the effect of Propecia is seen on hair growth. You must continue to use Propecia to maintain hair growth. Once you stop taking Propecia any gain in hair quantity is generally lost within 12 months. Please consult your doctor about the right dosage of Propecia finasteride medicine for you. Never decrease or exceed the dosage of Propecia on your own.
Propecia should not be used by women and children. Pregnant women or those who are planning to become pregnant should not even touch a Propecia tablet if it is broken or crushed.
What are Propecia (finasteride) side effects?
Propecia (finasteride) is a safe and well-tolerated drug but like other prescription medicines it does come with certain side effects. A small number of men have reported sexual side effects such as decreased desire for sex, difficulty in achieving an erection and a decrease in the amount of semen released during sex. Sexually related Propecia side effects go away when the medication is stopped.
Other Propecia side effects include allergic reactions including rash, itching, hives, and swelling of the lips and face, problems with ejaculation, breast tenderness and enlargement, and testicular pain. Please report to your doctor immediately if notice any changes in your breasts such as lumps, pain, or nipple discharge or if any of the side effects become bothersome.

Male pattern baldness has affected men throughout history. Prior to the medical treatments available today men attempted to treat hair loss in a variety of ways, usually with trying to hide hair loss. Both Napoleon and Julius Caesar grew their hair long, and combed it forward. Others hid their hair loss with wigs and hats. Others believed in mixing animal ingredients together as a paste to treat their hair loss.
Unfortunately, no matter how we attempt to treat hair loss, there is still no cure. The medical term for male pattern baldness is Androgenetic Alopecia, which is the cause of 95% of hair loss. Alopecia is the medical term for hair loss. Androgenetic consists of two keywords: Androgen and Genetic.
Androgen consists of hormones that affect masculinity, such as testosterone. Genetic means the genes we get from either parent. As we age, our hair follicles will produce an enzyme, that when it combines with testosterone it produces DHT (dihydrotestosterone). DHT is what causes male pattern baldness.
What this simply means is that male hair loss is caused by hormones, genetics, and aging. This combination makes it difficult to find a cure for hair loss, although treatments are available.
There are several other causes of male hair loss, although they only represent 5% of hair loss in the population. Alopecia Areata is an autoimmune disorder which cases hair to fall out in random patches. Alopecia Totalis is total hair loss resulting from Alopecia Areata. Alopecia Universalis is hair loss over the entire body, which is also a form of Areata.
Traction Alopecia is hair loss that is caused by excessive tension on the hair (such as hair braiding). Telogen Effiuvium is temporary hair loss caused by stress. Anagem Effiuvium is hair loss resulting from medications.
By understanding the cause of hair loss, we are able to find a treatment that is right for our type of hair loss. Doctors and dermatologists can help determine our specific cause and can recommend a course of action.

If you’re suffering from alopecia – the medical term for hairloss – you need to know that you need not stay helpless. Hairloss treatments are available in one form or another; the most common forms of treating alopecia are by surgery or medicine. You will need to go to a reliable hair clinic to find out which treatments are right for you.
The one thing you need to remember about hairloss treatments is that they may sound expensive, but they don’t need to be! And at any rate, wouldn’t you pay any price to get your precious hair back? To stop time and relive those precious younger days when you were able to style your hair any way you wanted? Hairloss is a problem that many of us face, but it’s not the kind of problem we have to face sitting down.
Hairloss, in one form or another, is a genetic condition experienced by 70 percent of all men and around 40 percent of all women by the time they hit middle age. Some of us may also carry the alopecia or hairloss gene, but not experience its effects – instead, we pass it on to our offspring. If you’d like to know your chances of experiencing alopecia, look at your grandparents, not your parents, uncles, aunts or siblings! Did Grandfather lose his hair early on? Did grandmother wear a wig to hide her sparse hair? If so, there’s an increased likelihood that you’ll experience alopecia later in your life, as well.
Surgical hair transplants are becoming more and more popular as an alternative to hair loss in this day and age. The advent of technological breakthroughs such as microscopic follicular unit technology has made hair surgery more attractive now than it was back in the day when hair surgeons were stuck with traditional grafting procedures. Thanks to this procedure, it is now possible for surgeons to “fine tune” their grafting paths in order not to strike at any major hair root systems, thus damaging the “natural” look around the grafted area.
But doesn’t a fancy name like “microscopic follicular unit technology” call for major spending? Not necessarily! Reliable and accredited hair clinics can offer you great allowances and discounts, so make sure to ask for them, if you’re interested in getting a hair transplant.
Medicines such as Propecia and Rogaine also count as hairloss treatments, and they may also be expensive, especially since you have to take them for a prolonged period. But don’t fear – health insurance and clinic discounts ought to make your medical purchases fall within the budget.

Hair plays a significant role in our daily life. Hair disorders especially when severe often profoundly affect the life of those afflicted. Severe hair loss evokes not only cosmetic concerns but also evokes feelings of vulnerability, loss of self esteem and even self identity. The adult human body averages 5 million hair, of which 1,00,000 to 15,000 are on the scalp itself. Each hair arises from a hair root and this hair root is enclosed in a sac like structure known as hair follicle. From each hair root upto 20 hairs can come in the life cycle of a human being.
Let us first understand the various types of hairloss and the causative factors. There are various types of baldness, the common varieties are
1) Male patterned baldness
2) Female patterned baldness
3) Alopecia Aerata/alopecia totalis
In both male patterned baldness and female patterned baldness there is a diffused thinning of hair. Male patterned baldness are mainly caused due to stress, dandruff scalp infections, illness like typhoid, jaundice in the past, overuse of strong shampoos and hair dyes, use of hair driers and harmful radiations like ozone rays and polarised rays which can harm the hair follicles and can even lead to cancer, extensive use of helmet, swimming without cap, heredity, use of various antibiotics and iron deficiency Anaemia. In female patterned baldness in addition to the above reasons factors like hormonal imbalance due to irregular periods, profuse menses, during pregnancy, after delivery, menopause and protein deficiency lead to thinning of hair .In Alopecia Aerata the hair loss occurs in round circular patches which sometimes rapidly increase in size leading to total baldness known as alopecia totalis. This can even lead to hair loss from other parts of the body like eyebrows, beard and moustaches.
In care’n’ cure health clinic,Dr.joy’s specially formulated and proven exclusive homoeopathic oral medicines are given to be taken inside which will stimulate the hair follicles and thus producing regrowth of hair and healthy growth of hair. These proven homoeo medicines will initially help to preserve what all hair the patient is having. For males upto 50 strands of hair loss is common. But there should be regrowth in proportion to the loss of hair. But in most patients this regrowth does not occur because of the above mentioned factors, so the thinning of hair will take place. The patient will only continue loosing hair but will not gain back what he or she is loosing .
But homoeo medicines will control and cures the causes which caused the hairloss and help to regrow hair so that the ratio between hair loss and hair growth is balanced. So thinning of hair will gradually and steadily reduce by taking homoeopathic medicines and the bald patches will slowly start covering up. Many are of the belief that by applying medicated oils they can grow hair. But the fact is hair growth is only possible by taking oral medications which will stimulate the hair follicles inside the scalp and cures other causes of hair loss ,resulting in healthy growth of hair and without any side effects. The duration of hair treatment varies from case to case and depending upon the degree of hair loss. There are very effective medicines at care’n’ cure health clinic to arrest further greying of hairs too. Not only will your greying of hairs be arrested more than 60% of white hairs will be turning to brownish or blakish.
A minimum period of 6 months treatment is very much essential. But each month slow and steady improvements will be noticed. Also in Homoeopathy a holistic treatment is done and based upon the detailed case history of each patient the medicine also varies from person to person. So after studying each case in detail a medicine is prescribed.

Over a period Of years I have met teenagers with Male Pattern Baldness othwerwise known as alopecia. I got some advice from a doctor I know that might help anyone with this problem. Hi Chris, Hair loss in not age related is called alopecia, which can be in patches, or involve the whole body. The cause is not known, it is thought to be an auto immune disease, where your immune system attacks your own body instead of an outside ‘enemy’.Sometimes it is caused by an allergic reaction to for example medication. It usually recovers completely though may be recurrent. Typical male pattern hair loss, as in baldness on top of your head is usually hormonal and does not normally get better Hi Chris, sorry, only just come back from camping.
