DHT Hair Regrowth Products Can Produce Good Results In Some Cases

Most men and women are troubled when they start to see signs of balding and/or thinning hair. After all, our hair is part of who we are and influences both how we view ourselves and how others perceive us to be.

Many types of balding are only temporary, and fall under the broad category of toxic alopecia. Examples would be balding caused by chemotherapy and stress related hair loss. Conversely, balding and/or thinning caused by androgenetic alopecia is progressive and will continue unless a suitable treatment option is found. The primary hormone behind this type of balding is the androgen hormone dihydrotestosterone or DHT, leading to DHT hair regrowth products becoming big business. Some suggest it could be a billion dollar industry!

And why shouldn’t it be? After all, it is estimated that nine out of every ten cases of hair loss in men and one out of every four in women is driven by this type of hair loss.

Prior to the discovery of minoxidil DHT hair regrowth products were based primarily on natural remedies that could be taken orally or applied topically. The oral formulas almost always included the herbs saw palmetto and nettle root. Ironically recent research has confirmed their effectiveness. The list of ingredients of topical formula are too numerous to list but included names such as lavender, sage, aloe, tea tree oil, peppermint oil and many others. Most of these topical DHT hair regrowth formulas are still widely available and have a loyal following, despite the effectiveness of topical minoxidil. The best explanation for this is that not all solutions work for everyone leading many to pursue natural remedies when either topical minoxidil or prescription finasteride (oral) have failed.

Currently minoxidil is the most widely used topical DHT hair regrowth formula. While most experts aren’t sure exactly how minoxidil works, they all agree that it can produce very good results protecting existing hair from the future ravages of androgenetic alopecia. Research suggests the number could be as high as 90 percent. It also can be effective in restoring lost hair,  but the numbers are much less impressive, with somewhere between 20 and 40 percent of users reporting new growth.

This somewhat anemic restorative number has stoked the search for combinations of natural ingredient to implement, in addition to minoxidil, to create DHT hair regrowth products which produce better results.

What Next? There are currently a handful of DHT hair regrowth products (specially formulated for both men and women) which have been proven effective both in blocking harmful hormones and bringing the all important dead hair follicles back to life. These specially formulated treatments can be used both as a preventative tool, starting before hair loss becomes severe, or after loss of hair has become noticeable. Whatever the level of balding or thinning you are experiencing these products could be just what is needed to overcome this latest life challenge.

Natural Hair Treatments and Natural Remedies

Ayur means Life, and Veda means Knowledge. Ayurveda is the 5,000-year old system of holistic healing that originated in India. Ayurveda is about a whole lifestyle of health and well-being. Hair is the crowning glory of the body, and at the same time it is an indicator of the bodys overall health. Ayurvedic herbs that help hair health include Eclipta Alba and Gotu Kola. Eclipta Alba is called Bhringaraj — literally, king of tresses. It nourishes the hair and helps resistance to stress as well. Brahmi, sometimes called Gotu Kola, also helps balance the mind and nourishes the hair and scalp. Vitamin C is considered to be the best nutrient for the health of hair. For this reason, Amla is widely used in most Ayurvedic hair preparations because it contains the highest amount of vitamin C in natural form.

Hair Fall: –

1. Soak some Amla (Indian gooseberries) powder in water overnight. In the morning, this powder will have softened. Then add the juice of a lemon in the water. This is a very vitamin C rich solution. Wash your hair with this solution. Apply a lot of pressure, and apply the solution just as you do with a shampoo.

2. Massage the scalp gently with coconut or almond oil daily for 10 to 15 minutes.

3. Boil Neem leaves in water. Cool, strain and rinse hair with it.

4. Increase green leafy vegetables, salads, milk, fruits and sprouts in the diet. Take more proteins, milk, buttermilk, yeast, wheat germ, soya beans, whole grains and nuts.

Dandruff: -

1. Add 1 teaspoon of camphor to half a cup of coconut or Neem oil. Massage this oil into the scalp before bed.

2. Mix 1 teaspoon of castor, mustard and coconut oil each and massage into the scalp.

3. Mix one part of lemon juice with two parts of coconut oil. Massage into the roots of the hair regularly. Wash with warm water after three to four hours or leave overnight.

Ayurveda normally addresses dull hair by suggestive of various types of oils to be used during scalp massages. Massaging the scalp and hair with warm, herb infused oil is the best way to nourish the scalp and hair externally. A warm oil massage, done at least once a week for normal hair and two to three times for dry hair, can help strengthen the roots of the hair and nourish the hair shafts, soften and condition the hair, replenish and rejuvenate dry, damaged hair, and help prevent excessive brittleness and split-ends.

Dull Hair: -

1. Almond oil and sesame oil are very nourishing for the scalp and hair and help reduce stiffness and tightness in the scalp.

2. Coconut oil can delay hair problems such as thinning and premature graying.

Although there are many hair-friendly herbs used to infuse oil, the following list shows those most commonly found in Ayurvedic preparations: -

Brahmi helps calm the mind and nervous system and promote hair thickness and body.

Amla is cooling, nourishing, purifying, and helps prevent dry scalp and flakes.

Rosemary helps stimulate hair follicles and promotes growth.

Bhringaraj, king of tresses is very nutritious for the hair.

No matter what type of hair nature blessed you with, there are things you can do to keep it healthy, lustrous, looking its best. If you’re looking to enhance or start your all-natural hair care regimen- Ayurveda can help you get there!

Hair Loss Clinic – Something you should know

For most people the first step in tackling hair loss is to visit or call a hair loss clinic because they’re the experts.  That sound about right?

Well, it’s a good call and also a bad call. I know that sounds a bit dumb but let me explain.

Hair loss clinics are there for two reasons. The first is to make money. The second is to provide a treatment. In that order. You’ll be hard puched to find one who puts money second. Most hair clinics have to provide the money for research themselves. They had to pay for their premesis, equipment, products and bills. There’s aren’t any government grants for a hair loss clinic. The only way a clinic will get the money to pay for all this is to get clients to sign up.

This isn’t to say that the clinic doesn’t want to give you a great treatment with great results. Of course they do. They want you to come back and even recommend your friends to them. Clinics rely on a good reputation and the only way to do that is go give as good a service as they can.

This bringsd me on to my next point. If you find out that you are suffering from male pattern baldness then who do you go to? You could go to your nearest clinic if you wanted. But since their main aim is to get new clients signed up, how do you know that what they’re offering is what you need? I only say that because of this…

…I spoke to a consultant who worked for a hair clinic. He had potential clients coming in because they were worried about their hair thinning. I saw these people and I thought that all they needed was laser. I was right but what he told me was this. “This is a hair clinic…not a laser clinic. If they sign up for hair then they keep coming back every month for the maintenance. That means there’s money coming into the clinic every month.”

Take from that what you will. With laser, someone could either pay it all up front or decide to pay half and then the other half at a later date. But after the bill was paid there was no more money coming into the clinic from that particular client.

There are good clinics out there and also some bad ones.  Some great treatments and some bad ones.  There are pros and cons with everything.  You just have to do your research before you commit yourself and one thing I always advise people is to ask questions.  If you go into a clinic don’t be afraid to ask as many questions as you want.  It could be a lot of money you’re parting with so ask away.

I started losing my hair when I was nineteen years old. It prompted me to research different hair loss treatments and after signing up to a few treatments myself I went on to work for one of the world’s leading hair loss clinics. I decided to create my own website dedicated to hair loss. You can find it here: http://www.myhairsolutions.co.uk
